It was a tough decision, with so many worthy titles just waiting to be read and discussed, but we decided to make The Financial Lives of the Poets by Jess Walter our first book club pick. We wanted to start off with a bang, and we felt a modern story, told in a dark and hilarious tone, would provide not only a quality reading experience, but a lot of spirited discussion as well. As everyone will soon find out, the book club members have a lot of differing opinions and points of view, to go along with a genuine love of novels.
The topics that this book touches on are relevant to the modern consciousness that most people can relate to in some way. Mix that with a bit of humour and a healthy dose of creativity and this was a book we could not turn down. In the end we know you will have as much fun reading it as we did, and we look forward to hearing anything and everything you have to say.
