I had the pleasure of meeting Tommy Europe while he was in Toronto for media and a book signing of his new book, The 10-Pound Shred, at Indigo Eaton’s Centre. Tommy is a big guy with a big personality, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. As soon as I met him I realized that he’s incredibly down to earth. If you’ve picked up his book, you’ve probably noticed that this comes through in the writing as well; his tone is friendly (but firm!) and personal, which is good because you will immediately feel that you can trust his advice.
We arrived at Indigo just before 7pm, with fans already lined up to meet Tommy. After speaking briefly, Tommy took questions from the audience. My favourite question came first, from a young lady who confidently asked, “How do I get an instant butt lift?” Tommy invited her up on stage and demonstrated a classic squat, which he explained was not only a fantastic core workout, but would give her butt the lift she was looking for. Tommy took the time to address everyone’s concerns in detail. This is when I realized the real breadth of his knowledge, as fans asked various questions ranging from how to lose weight after having a baby, to specific questions on weight lifting technique. Another fan asked to have a photo taken with Tommy while she grabbed his bicep and triceps. She was obviously impressed, as she exclaimed (for everyone in the bookstore), “It’s like a ROCK!”
Many people may not have access to a personal trainer, or even a gym membership so it’s pretty inspiring to have a book like this that will empower you to meet your fitness goals, whatever those may be.
