It's Contemporary YA Fiction Month

June is Contemporary Fiction Month! Here is Evie from Bookish to tell you a bit more about why she is hosting this event (with Words At Home and Into the Hall of Books) and why contemporary fiction is important:

Contemporary Fiction Month is a blog event designed to spotlight and celebrate the recently published YA contemporary books. Together with two other bloggers, we decided to host it when we realized how neglected and underappreciated YA contemporary fiction really was. With all the gorgeous paranormal, fantasy and dystopian novels out there, contemporary releases often don’t even get a second glance from an average reader. Additionally, many of us – book lovers – seem to believe that contemporary fiction does not offer anything more than a light, fluffy romance and pastel-coloured covers. Join us throughout the month of June as we explore the contemporary fiction world and its many faces and flavours. There will be reviews, author interviews, guest posts, and many giveaways!
