The 50 Book Pledge: September Update

8 months down, 4 months to go!

How are you all doing on your 50 Book Pledge?

I don’t know about you guys, but I have already read some AMAZING books this year, and there are even more amazing titles coming out this Fall. It has been a great year for reading, and it’s only going to get better.

I am starting book #38 tonight but still need some help deciding which book to read! Does anyone have any suggestions? Let me know on twitter @SavvyReader!

According to my very rough math, you should be somewhere around 32-35 in your pledge to be on track. Congrats to everyone that has already reached 50 books. You speedy readers! I hope you’ll still continue to tweet (using the #50BookPledge hashtag), and chat about what you’re reading with us. Perhaps you might even want to set a new goal. 60 books? 75? 100? The sky’s the limit!

Need help picking your next read in the 50 Book Pledge?

1) Look for recommendations on twitter! (Especially from fellow #50BookPledge participants.)
2) Use this handy website.
3) Just read a book you really enjoyed? Explore the author’s backlist! (Room lead to me to so many other amazing books by Emma Donoghue.)
4) Ask your friends and family. (Readers tend to be surrounded by other readers!)

Here’s my 50 Book Pledge update:

Over the long weekend I managed to finish two books, while sitting on a dock in the sunshine. (The perfect reading spot!) The first one was The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom. Already an Albom fan? You’re going to love this one! It has a powerful message, it beautifully written, and you can polish it off in one afternoon.

The second book I read was How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran. Gals (and guys, too) can learn a lot from this smart and funny lady! Moran finds a way to discuss pretty much everything women deal with a way that’s relatable, and also makes you think.

How about you? What did you read this summer? Let me know in the comments!

I just want to thank everyone for continuing to chat about the pledge. It means a lot to me to be able to connect with so many readers out there.

Happy Reading, and good luck with your 50 Book Pledge!

  1. Thanks to you and Cory and Harper Collins Canada I have had an amazing summer of reading! Some of my favourites were Juliet by Anne Fortier, Liz Norris’ Unraveling, catherine McKenzie’s three novels, Simon Toyne’s trilogy, and of course the #HCCFanChoice, Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter. I am currently reading Book #40! It’s The Lady of the Rivers by Philippa Gregory and #41 will be The Kingmaker’s Daughter. I highly recommend her even for those who think they may not enjoy historical fiction. Her writing is just that good! Another favourite was The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce. Inspiring. I am looking forward to the Fall Releases and may need to take out a small loan to get all the books that I want but am enjoying each and every journey! Happy Reading to All! And best to all in the #50BookPledge!
