Faction Reading Week: Abnegation

Members of Abnegation are characterized by selflessness; they are known to sacrifice their own needs in order to serve others. Humanitarians at heart, they strive for a society free of greed and self-interest.

Here are some books we think members of Abnegation would appreciate:

Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis

Lynn knows every threat to her pond: drought, a snowless winter, coyotes, and, most important, people looking for a drink. She makes sure anyone who comes near the pond leaves thirsty or doesn’t leave at all. After a lifetime spent doing whatever it takes to protect her home, Lynn begins to open up emotionally and start helping others, especially once she encounters a group of struggling survivors who are desperate for support.

In the After by Demitria Lunetta

In Demitria Lunetta’s debut novel, Amy must navigate a world that has been overtaken by Them—vile creatures that are rapidly devouring mankind. Amy demonstrates an abnegation-esque selflessness, much like Tris, when she rescues a young toddler and raises her as a sister, despite the danger in doing so.

If I Should Die by Amy Plum

The thrilling conclusion to the DIE FOR ME series, in which beings called revenants must sacrifice themselves again and again to save the lives of strangers.

We’d love to hear what you would add to this list!
