This week’s bookmarks are summer fun themed: there’s info on HarperCollinsCanada‘s Summer Escapes campaign, a summer reading guide, and last year’s go-to summer read Beautiful Ruins makes yet another appearance! Hopefully the weather is great where you are–in Toronto it is rainy and humid, so we also have some suggestions for staying inside, if need be. This is a really awesome list so pay close attention:
1. Summer Escapes has begun! How are you going to spend your summer? We’ve got a few helpful hints over here, including a chance to take a really cool vacation with Contiki Holidays(!) as well as some great summer book picks. Try reading My Life in Black and White by Kim Izzo, J’adore Paris by Isabella Lafleche, Hidden by Catherine McKenzie, Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich, or About a Girl by Lindsay Kelk! Find out how to enter the contest here and check back weekly for fun tips!
2. Spending too much time in the sun? Take a break on Saturday and curl up on the couch with a good movie. The W Network is broadcasting two fun films—Mamma Mia and August Rush—brought to you by Tish Cohen’s new novel The Search Angel! If you watch, you’ll be able to catch The Search Angel commercial too! Not planning on staying inside? Watch an exclusive first peak here.
3. The Book Stylist was on Peterborough’s CHEX TV to discuss Beautiful Ruins! Alessandra is a blogger who has a bi-weekly book review segment on The 5 O’Clock Show. Of Beautiful Ruins she says, “you’re going to fall in love with it.” Watch the segment here or visit The Book Stylist.
4. Chatelaine has published their annual summer reading guide! Definitely worth a gander if you are stuck on what to fill the hot summer days with! Maybe try The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion for a light and quirky summer romance, or The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker for some magical realism! See their full guide here.
That’s all, folks. Have a safe and happy weekend and don’t forget to tell us what you’re reading on Twitter @SavvyReader!
See you next week.
