Bookmarks: September 4th

Extra, extra, read all about it! There was a LOT of wonderful book news this week, readers, and I can’t wait to share my favourite finds with you. Here’s what caught my eye on the bookish internet recently:

1. James Sirius Potter, aka Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley’s eldest son, started at Hogwarts this September 1st, and J.K. Rowling took to Twitter to reveal which house he got sorted into! Which house are you in? (I used to think I was a Gryffindor, but now I’m happy as a Hufflepuff.)

The Saddest Bookworm Baby Cries When Book is Finished

2. This book-loving baby warmed all of our hearts this week. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Find out here – I promise it’s worth your time!

3. CBC Books compiled a list of 12 Canadian novels that should be made into movies, and it’s amazing. (I’d love to see This One Summer and The Girl Who Was Saturday Night as movies!) Which book(s) would you most like to see as a movie?

Room Emma Donoghue Movie Adaptation

4. Speaking of movies, Emma Donoghue shared her set diary on why the filming of Room, the book-to-movie adaptation of her bestselling novel of the same name, was so unusual. Read all about it (plus a video!) on Book Riot here.

5. Can’t wait for Lawrence Hill’s The Illegal to come out next Tuesday? Read an exclusive excerpt here!
