Hi Savvy Readers! Happy (almost) weekend! I hope your week has been filled with great reads. (Let us know what you’re reading in the comments below or on Twitter @savvyreader!) Here at The Savvy Reader, we’ve been keeping our eyes out for exciting bookish news, photos, and links. Keep reading for our top picks!

1. Room is officially out in theatres!

Starring Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay, Room is the movie adaptation of Emma Donoghue‘s bestselling novel of the same name. I was lucky enough to attend an advanced screening of the movie earlier this week, and it was fantastic. It was everything you’d want in a movie: great character moments, heartbreaking scenes (yes, I few tears were shed), and hope. It’s incredibly powerful and I’d highly recommend it!

Psst, haven’t read Room yet or want to read it again? Download it to your e-reader for only $4.99 here.

2. Who is Solomon Creed?

At the beginning of this week, we were on a mission to find out more about Solomon Creed, the central character in Simon Toyne‘s new novel The Searcher. We won’t spoil anything for you, but if you want to hear what some of our favourite bloggers had to say about the book, click here! 3. Great Scott! Wednesday was Back to the Future Day!

In case you missed it, this past Wednesday was October 21, 2015: the day Doc Brown and Marty McFly traveled back to in Back to the Future. We celebrated by reading Michael Klastorin and Randal Atamaniuk‘s Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History, which is a gorgeous book filled with tons of never-before-seen photos and content, including concept art, storyboards, and other visual treasures! How did you celebrate Back to the Future day?

4. The Kansas City Library and Toronto Public Library get into a spine poetry battle!

Blue Jays Toronto Public Library Kansas Library Book Spine Poetry

The baseball excitement is real! The Kansas City Library and Toronto Public Library have been exchanging some passionate book spine poetry on Twitter this week in support of their baseball teams. The two cities’ teams the Royals and the Blue Jays are currently facing off in the ALCS, with the Royals currently leading the series 3-2. I’m loving every second of this friendly competition! See all of the face-off tweets in CBC Book’s recap here, and “like” this post if you’re cheering on the Blue Jays tonight in game 6!
