Happy Friday, Savvy Readers! We can’t believe it’s already June. We’ve been really busy on the site this week sharing our Top 10 Books About Sisters as well as a special author guest post. 1. Get Ready for a Ton of Girl Power in Girl Code

All I can say is: YAAAAAS. Teenagers Sophie Houser and Andrea Gonzales found themselves in the spotlight when their self-coded 8-bit game Tampon Run became viral. Now, they’re sharing their inspirational story (and some coding tips!) via Girl Code: Gaming, Going Viral, and Getting It Done. The book’s cover was revealed on Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls, along with an interview, here!

2. Dennis Lee’s The Cat and the Wizard Announced as First Bookmark for Children

Exciting news! The first Bookmark for children has been announced, and it’s none other than Dennis Lee‘s The Cat and the Wizard! The Bookmark will be unveiled at Casa Loma in Toronto this September. Unfamiliar with Project Bookmark Canada? “Project Bookmark Canada exists to mark our stories in our spaces, by placing fiction and poetry in the exact Canadian locations where literary scenes are set.” (Source)

3. Brush Up on Your Roald Dahl Vocab with The Oxford Roald Dahl Dictionary

Roald Dahl sure liked “Gobblefunk” — or, “to play around with [words] and invent new words or meanings.” Luckily for us, these words have now been compiled and defined in The Oxford Roald Dahl Dictionary as reported by the BBC. Click here to read more about this “Swashboggling” dictionary.
