1. Scotiabank Giller Prize Longlist Revealed

Fall has officially started (in my mind, at least). The Giller Prize longlist was announced this Wednesday, and the longlisted books all look incredible. A special congratulations to Emma Donoghue (The Wonder), David Bergen (Stranger), and Kerry Lee Powell (Willem De Kooning’s Paintbrush)! Have you read any of the longlisted books, Savvy Readers? In case you missed the reveal, see the full longlist here.

2. Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda is Coming to the Big Screen

I’m so excited about this I could squee, Savvy Readers! You know how much we loved Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, and soon we’ll be able to see it on the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter announced this week that Greg Berlanti is in talks to direct the adaptation of this wonderful novel that warmed our hearts. Click here to read the full article.

3. Gymnast Simone Biles Adding “Author” To Her List of Accomplishments

Simone Biles wowed us this summer at the Rio Olympics (seriously, if you haven’t seen her floor routine, go watch it now) so it’s so exciting to hear that she’s writing a book! Biles revealed the information on The Ellen Show this week and the book, Courage to Soar, is scheduled to release this fall. Watch the reveal here!

4. CBC Books Shares Exclusive Peek at The Lonely Hearts Hotel by Heather O’Neill

Okay, I don’t think I could be more excited to share this! It’s no secret that I adore Heather O’Neill (author of Daydreams of Angels and The Girl Who Was Saturday Night) and this week CBC Books teased fans with an exclusive treat: a sneak peek of O’Neill’s upcoming book The Lonely Hearts Hotel. See the cover and read the excerpt here. What do you think? I love how whimsical and romantic it is – just like O’Neill’s writing.
