1. The Scotiabank Giller Prize Shortlist Has Been Announced!


This Monday was incredibly exciting in the book world as the Scotiabank Giller Prize revealed this year’s shortlist. (Click here to see this year’s longlist!) Out of 161 books submitted, 6 have emerged to round up the shortlist. A special congratulations goes to Emma Donoghue for her shortlisted book The Wonder! 2. Cover Love: Check Out the Cover of Vicki Grant’s New Book


Cover love is a real thing, Savvy Readers! Even though the contents of a book is very important, it really doesn’t hurt to have a beautiful cover to go with it. 3. Is Your Favourite Writer One of Hollywood’s Most Powerful Authors? 

From film adaptations to TV shows, book adaptations are here to stay. This week, The Hollywood Reporter published their list of the 25 most influential authors of the year, and we’re so happy to see some of our favourite authors (like Neil Gaiman, Lauren Oliver, Patrick Ness, and Emma Donoghue) on the list. See who else made the list here.

4. Project Bookmark Unveils its First Bookmark for Children

Yesterday, Project Bookmark unveiled its first literary Bookmark for children! The unveiling was at Toronto’s Casa Loma, and the Bookmark honours beloved Canadian poet Dennis Lee and his book The Cat and the Wizard. Casa Loma is prominently featured throughout the story and now The Cat and the Wizard has a permanent home on the castle grounds. Congratulations, Dennis!

5. Watch Now: Facebook Live with Emma Donoghue

Emma Donoghue has had a busy week this week! In addition to a sold-out Toronto Public Library event, she also stopped by the HarperCollins Canada offices for a Facebook Live chat.
