Hey Savvy Readers,
This week some really exciting things have happened and if you don’t already know about them, here is your chance to get caught up!
The 50 Book Pledge
As it stands we’ve accomplished 77% of our goal, and read over 116,000 books!! This is FANTASTIC Savvy Readers! 737 pledgers have already read 50 books this year, and 177 people have read 100 (or more)! So proud I could cry! 1654 of pledgers are still on there way to 50 with 25 books read. Can we reach 80% readers?
This Week’s Feature Read
Sarah Beth Durst’s The Queen of Blood takes place in a magical land called Renthia. In this world, malevolent spirits inhabit everything and seek to destroy the human population. The Queen is the only one that is able to control these spirits, and because of this, young girls are trained for this position very seriously. The protagonist, Daleina, simply wants to right the wrongs that have befallen the land, and with the help of disgraced champion Ven as her mentor, she just might be able to. Will the land be safe from the increasingly frequent spirit attacks? Savvy Reader Meghan loved this one, and it also seems that our fellow readers are too!
“Wow, girl! What a great story! A truly wonderful fantasy novel which doubles as an allegory for our own earthly struggle between Man and Nature. Filled with fresh ideas and excitement, told with verve and heart. This book deserves a wide readership, and I think it will find one.” Terry Brooks, Amazon
This book gripped me from page 1. I found every excuse I could to stop and read, because the tension just drove me crazy. Beth Cato, Goodreads
“Mythopoeic Award-winner Durst (Chasing Power) launches her Queens of Renthia series with a stellar and imaginative tale…In addition to a solid cast of characters and great political intrigue, Durst delivers some fascinating worldbuilding, and the spirits are malevolent, cunning, wild, and mysterious antagonists.” Publishers Weekly, Amazon
“There’s a genuine darkness to this book, one that earns this book its spot on the adult shelf. That said, I think this book IS very YA friendly and I think it kind of straddles that line between both shelves.” Carrie Mansfield, Goodreads
“The Queen of Blood is full of rich tension from the opening scene to the nail-biting finale.” Jeff Wheeler, Amazon
