50 Book Pledge Featured Read: Her Every Fear

Have you ever read a book that had an insane plot twist?  Have you ever read a book that had tons of insane plot twists, leaving your heart pounding and your brain like:

Her Every Fear by Peter Swanson is one of those books.  After being stalked and kidnapped by an ex-boyfriend years earlier, Kate Priddy finally feels safe enough to venture out into the world.  Kate and her distant cousin, Corbin Dell, swap homes for six months; she moves to Boston to explore and he moves to England for work.  On her first night in Corbin’s apartment, her neighbour is murdered.

Kate immediately emails Corbin to ask if he knew the victim, Audrey.  He says he did, but not well; he had seen her around the building but he never spent any time with her.  The police, however, discover that Corbin and Audrey did know each other.  Quite well, in fact:  they were in an intimate relationship.

This new information coming to light, along with search warrants and voyeuristic neighbours, has Kate questioning Corbin’s innocence.  He swears he didn’t kill her, but what else could explain the crippling fear that Kate feels any time she’s in the apartment – almost like she’s being watched?

Peter Swanson expertly writes a murder-mystery-thriller-crime hybrid, and I was completely captivated from the very first page.  I felt Kate’s fear as if it were my own, and I was constantly unsure of who I should be rooting for.  Her Every Fear’s twists and turns had me ripping through the pages – I needed to know who did it, and I needed to know now!

This book has stayed with me since I finished it.  I won’t give too much away, but I will say this:  this is a thriller that will have you double-checking the locks on your doors.
