Bookmarks: July 7th

Happy Friday, Savvy Readers! We hope you had a restful and happy long weekend last week. It’s been a quiet week for book news this week but nevertheless we have some fun links, photos, and tweets to share. Keep reading to see what caught our eye!

Are you a part of the #RWBookClub? Earlier this week, Reese Witherspoon announced this week’s pick: The Alice Network by Kate Quinn! The pick was decided by a vote and this lush historical fiction novel about the real-life network of female spies who operated in France during WWI was ultimately chosen. Read more about the book here and see Reese’s announcement post here!

2. Books + Stationery = Happiness

I don’t know about you, Savvy Readers, but I can never resist a beautiful bookish notebook. To my delight (and my wallet’s dismay), Buzzfeed Books recently shared a list of 11 bookish notebooks here. I could stare at those beautiful notebooks all day…

3. Enter to Win A Copy of Wesley Snipes’ New Novel

Did you know? Not only is Wesley Snipes a prolific actor, he’s now adding “author” to his resume! It’s true: Wesley Snipes has written a new book, Talon of God, and it comes out on July 25th, 2017. Want a chance to win an advanced copy? Click here to enter the giveaway on Goodreads and learn more about Talon of God here.

Favourite tweet of the week:

The wonderful Roxane Gay was in Toronto this week to promote her new book Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body! She was interviewed on stage by Kim Katrin Milan and it was a fantastic evening on feminism, fat phobia, and Roxane’s take on the Rob/Blac Chyna situation. But perhaps the highlight was the cookie in the tweet above. It’s so masterful that it’s almost too good to eat.

There you have it, Savvy Readers! We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of Bookmarks. As always, please share book news you’ve found with us in the comments below or on Twitter @SavvyReader!
