Happy almost-long-weekend, Savvy Readers! Who’s excited to make a dent in their TBR this weekend? I certainly am. I’m also so excited to be sharing our favourite book news, links, and photos of the week with you! In this edition of Bookmarks, we learn all about ISBNs, a famous farm goes on the market, and some really exciting news is announced!
1. What’s in a Number? (The ISBN, That Is)
Have you ever wondered where ISBNs — International Standard Book Numbers — came from and what they actually are? I know I have. Luckily, the Times Literary Supplement shared this fun article about a mostly overlooked yet crucial part of books. My favourite part? The fact that ISBNs are now 13 digits instead of 10 due to “an imminent shortage of ten-digit numbers.” Learn facts like that and more by reading the article here!
2. Could You Be the New Owner of E. B. White’s Farm?

Not a YA reader? No problem! It was also announced this week that the Killer Crime Club is meeting in Toronto AND Calgary this fall! This Killer Crime Club tour will feature Gilly Macmillan (Odd Child Out), Rene Denfeld (Child Finder), and Mel McGrath (Give Me the Child)! (Cue this gif again!) Tour details can be found here.
