Hi, Savvy Readers! Happy Friday! Welcome to another edition of Bookmarks where we share our favourite bookish news, links, and photos of the week. This week’s post features time travel, sweet announcements, movie news, and a very exciting giveaway so keep reading to learn more!

1. Travel Through Time with Merriam-Webster

Did you know that the word “e-book” was first known to be used in 1988? Or that “vanity press” was first known to be used in 1950? Time Traveler, Merriam-Webster‘s recently launched tool, sorts words by the year they were first known to be used and it’s incredibly fascinating. If you’re a word nerd like us you should definitely check it out here (and don’t forget to share your favourite discovery with us in the comments below!).

2. Just Announced: Candy Palmater is Writing a Book

Exciting news! Candy Palmater, beloved radio and television personality, is writing a book to be published in spring 2019! The book will emphasize the importance of kindness and self-esteem while letting readers in on Palmater’s unconventional and inspiring life story. Read more about this exciting announcement here.

3. Graeme Simsion Movie News (!!)


Fans of Graeme Simsion have a lot to look forward to in the coming years! Deadline exclusively reported this week that Simsion’s newest novel — Two Steps Forward, co-written with his wife Anne Buist — has been optioned by Ellen DeGeneres‘ production company. Not only that, Simsion’s previous works, The Rosie Project and The Best of Adam Sharp, will soon be adapted as well. Click here to read more.

4. Watch Now: Trailer for Molly’s Game Starring Jessica Chastain

If all the Graeme Simsion movie news has you itching to see a movie, we have the next best thing! The movie trailer for Molly’s Game was released this week and it looks amazing. Based on a true story, Molly’s Game follows the rise and fall of 26-year-old Molly Bloom, “Hollywood’s poker princess”. Intrigued?
