1. A New #HCCFirstLook Has Been Announced!

HCC First Look The Second Sister Advanced Reading Copy

If you (or your friends) love suspenseful thrillers AND reading books before they’re published we have the perfect program for you! HCC First Look is looking for 10 new readers to read and review The Second Sister by Claire Kendal. Intrigued? Learn more about the book here and how to sign up here.

2. Blast From the Past: The Book Strap

With school right around the corner, Paul Taunton from the National Post wrote an article reminiscing about — well, actually, disparaging — the long-forgotten book strap. Have you ever used one to carry your books? Taunton’s article almost makes me wish I had seen one in action in person. Read his thoughts about this backpack alternative here.

While we wait for it to come out, here’s the next best thing: Palmater joined Shelagh Rogers this week to discuss some of the books they read and loved this summer (including Gabourey Sidibe‘s This is Just My Face and Durga Chew-Bose‘s Too Much and Not the Mood!). Click here to see the full list. Did any of the books catch your eye? Let us know in the comments below!

4. Giveaway: Fall Fiction Preview 2017
