Li Jiawen, the owner of the Novel Hovel shop in eastern China, has a very unique business model. His bookstore only has two titles for sale at a time! Every two weeks, one person recommends two books to Li, and explains why they like reading them. Li only has 20 copies of each title for sale and no stock refills if they run out of copies. Why run a business in such a minimalist manner? Li says he hopes “to dig out many good books that haven’t gained much attention”. Read more about the Novel Hovel here!
