50 Book Pledge Featured Read: The Accidental Adventures of the 100-Year-Old Man

It’s Monday, so you know what that means, Savvy Readers… It’s time to add a new 50 Book Pledge Featured Read to your shelf! Jonas Jonasson is back with The Accidental Further Adventures of the Hundred-Year-Old Man, the follow-up to his bestselling novel The One-Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared. This time around, everyone’s favourite centenarian is back, and he has some might bizarre adventures in store for us…

For Allan Karlsson, all he wants is a fun, innocent hot air balloon trip and to see some spectacular views with three bottles of champagne and his sidekick Julius. As we can anticipate, though, things don’t exactly go as planned…

Rather than having a nice, relaxing trip, Allan’s hot air balloon lands in the sea and is rescued by a ship! That’s great, right? Well, if this weren’t a Jonas Jonasson novel, yeah, it probably would be. But the ship that rescues Allan and Julius just so happens to be a North Korean ship captained by someone carrying a suitcase full of contraband uranium on a nuclear weapons mission for Kim Jong-Un.

Soon after Allan and Julius are rescued, they find themselves at the centre of an international diplomatic crisis and have to deal with world figures like Angela Merkel and President Trump. How will Allan and Julius get themselves out of this one? Oh, Allan, you lovable old man…

At its core, The Accidental Further Adventures of the One-Hundred-Year-Old Man is a hilarious, witty, and entertaining story about everyone’s favourite old man and the misadventures and shenanigans he finds himself caught up in.
