50 Book Pledge Featured Read: I Know You Know

Savvy Readers, if you haven’t yet been introduced to Gilly Macmillan, I am honored to be the one to introduce you. Gilly Macmillan is hands down one of my favourite thriller writers, and I Know You Know is the next book you NEED. TO. READ.

Let’s start here with a handy list of all of Gilly Macmillan’s books, because trust me, once you start reading her brilliantly written stories, you won’t be able to stop.

Get ready to step into TWO shocking murder cases that happened 20 years apart. Initially, two boys, Charlie Paige and Scott Ashby, were murdered in Bristol. Their bodies were found near a dog racing track. A man, Sidney Noyce, was convicted of the brutal crime. But now, decades later, questions still linger.

For example… Cody Smith has always been haunted by the deaths of his childhood best friends, especially considering that he could have been with them the night they were murdered. Now a filmmaker, Cody returns to Bristol hoping to uncover new evidence, and to encourage those who may be keeping long-buried secrets to speak up. To document the information he uncovers, he creates a podcast.

What he finds is that there are many people who don’t want the case—along with old wounds—reopened so many years after the tragedy. Especially Charlie’s mother, Jess, who decides to take matters into her own hands.

During Cody’s investigation, a long-dead body is found in the same location that the boys were left decades before. Now Detective John Fletcher, the investigator on the original case, must reopen his dusty files and decide if the two murders are linked. With his career at risk, the clock is ticking and lives are in jeopardy…

Savvy Readers. WOW. Wowowowow. I Know You Know is a riveting story, right from the first sentence. It’s a perfectly executed thriller that reveals secrets slowly, leaving you wanting more and more. But seriously, Gilly Macmillan is a MASTER at creating well-developed, believable characters and clever psychological suspense novels that keep you on the edge of your seat.

And—before I go—can we talk about the uniqueness of the podcast portions?! The podcast was such an interesting way of introducing characters and facts from the original case without jumping back and forth 20 years! I absolutely loved how Gilly made something that’s super trendy right now work with her thriller novel.
