Happy Friday, Savvy Readers! We hope you’re staying warm wherever you are; in Toronto it seems as though we’ve barreled straight into winter! That said, no weather can stop us from sharing our book news of the week, so let’s get started on this week’s Bookmarks!

1. The Hate U Give Opening Weekend

In case you missed it, today is The Hate U Give’s official movie wide release day! Adapted from Angie Thomas’ incredible novel of the same name, this movie is one you’ll want to see multiple times (with kleenex in hand). If you haven’t read the book yet, learn more about it here.

2. BuzzFeed Book Club Chooses First Book Club Book

If you’re looking for a book club to join but don’t know of one near you (it happens!), here’s a great way to satisfy your bookish dreams! This week, BuzzFeed Books launched its new book club and have announced their inaugural pick: Family Trust by Kathy Wang. 3. The Ravenmaster Visits Canada

This week, Christopher Skaife, who might have the most unique job in the world as the Ravenmaster at the Tower of London, visited Canada!  While he was here he visited Your Morning, The Social (pictured above), and The Morning Show on Global! 4. Man Booker Prize Winner Announced

It’s not the fall season without lots of prize news! This week, The Man Booker Prize 2018 was awarded to Anna Burns for her novel Milkman. Read the official announcement here. Congrats, Anna!

5. #HarperPresents: Annie Ward and Karen Hamilton

Last night Annie Ward and Karen Hamilton, authors of upcoming thrillers Beautiful Bad and The Perfect Girlfriend, met with some lucky readers at the HarperCollins Canada offices! They talked about their books, their writing process, how their real lives influenced their stories, and more! If you weren’t able to attend, don’t worry — you can catch up on everything using the HarperPresents hashtag on Twitter and Instagram.
