TGIF, Savvy Readers! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and things are finally starting to warm up here in Toronto, so let’s dive into the news so we can get to the more important stuff – like reading outside, of course – as quickly as possible!

1. The Good Omens TV series has officially arrived!

Two of the most beloved fantasy authors of all-time – Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett – teamed up to write the equally beloved novel Good Omens about 19 years ago, and it has FINALLY made its long overdue jump to the small screen. Starring everyone’s favourite Doctor David Tennant as Crowley and the criminally underrated Michael Sheen as Aziraphale (oh, and the greatest actress of our generation, Frances McDormand, as God), you can watch Good Omens on Amazon Prime now! Since Neil Gaiman is one of our favourite authors ever, we thought we’d celebrate the release of this new series by exploring exactly why we love him so much. Check it out here!

2. Speaking of TV series… NOS4A2 is officially here!

Summer must be the season of TV adaptations, eh? Starring the always amazing Zachary Quinto as Charlie Manx, an immortal who feeds off the souls of children, and Ashleigh Cummings as a young girl who might just have the power to stop him, NOS4A2 is based off the chilling, over-the-top creepy tale by master of horror Joe Hill. Have you watched this series at all already? Let us know what you thought!

3. An American Marriage won the Women’s Prize for Fiction!

One of the most celebrated novels of 2018 – it was even hailed by Barack Obama himself!  – Tayari Jones‘s An American Marriage has officially won the £30,000 2019 Women’s Prize for Fiction! You can read all about the major announcement here. Congratulations, Tayari!

4. Dwyane Wade is publishing a memoir!

Excuse me while I geek out for a second. One of my generation’s most beloved basketball players – and arguably one of the best guards in the history of the sport – Dwyane Wade (a.k.a. D-Wade) is publishing a memoir that “tells of his rise from Chicago’s South Side to NBA stardom and will focus on the ‘essential principles’ of his life and career, which includes 13 All-Star appearances and three NBA titles with the Miami Heat.” Want to learn more about this incredible man and his new book project? Head on over to ESPN now!

Did we miss any news? If yes, let us know on Twitter @SavvyReader! If not, get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather with an amazing book!

Happy weekend reading,
