Bookmarks: September 27

Well, another week has come and gone, Savvy Readers. Is it just me or are the weeks absolutely flying by? Pretty soon 2019 will be over! Anyway, before we dive into full-on existential crisis mode, here’s this week’s installment of Bookmarks!

1. CBC revealed the cover for Emily St. John Mandel’s The Glass Hotel and it is GORGEOUS

The Glass Hotel is Emily St. John Mandel‘s first novel since her breakout mega-hit Station Eleven was released to critical acclaim. To say that this book is highly anticipated would be selling it very, very short – this book is going to be huge, and for good reason! If the cover is any indication, we’re in for a treat with this one, Savvy Readers. Head on over to CBC for the full story!

2. Oprah’s book club is back!

We all know that Oprah has impeccable taste when it comes to literature. I mean, just last year, she put her stamp of approval on An American Marriage by Tayari Jones, and it was one of the best books we read in all of 2018! Well, Savvy Readers: Oprah’s book club is FINALLY back, thanks to Apple+! New episodes will air every two months, and she’s kicking things off with Ta-Nehisi Coates’s The Water Dancer. Read the full story over on Bustle.

3. Podcasts are taking over!

Okay, so this one isn’t quite “news”, but we wanted to share this article just in case any of you were interested. If you, like me, commute two hours to work each way every day, you likely know just how amazing podcasts can be. And if, like me, you are usually too tired on your way home to read a physical book, then this list will come in handy. O Magazine has rounded up the best book podcasts for all us readers, and I can vouch that their selections are awesome! You can find the full list here. What podcasts are you listening to, Savvy Readers?

That’s all we’ve got for this week, Savvy Readers! Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter @SavvyReader!

Happy reading!
