It has been a great week for some of our favourite books of last year, as it was announced earlier this week that The Confessions of Frannie Langton won the Costa Book Award in the First Novel category! Check out the rest of the winners here. A remarkable literary debut with echoes of Alias Grace, The Underground Railroad and The Paying GuestThe Confessions of Frannie Langton should 100% be on your TBR piles if it isn’t already! Check out the full list of winners here.

3. Barack Obama’s Reading List Wows

We’re a little late to this one, Savvy Readers, but, like other years, former president Barack Obama released a list of his favourite reads of 2019. Out of the 38 books that made his list, we can’t recommend Albert Woodfox‘s Solitary enough. Looking to grow your TBR pile? You can check it out here!

That’s all we’ve got for this week, Savvy Readers. Have anything else to add? Feel free to let us know in the comments or on Twitter @SavvyReader!

Happy reading,
