Short weeks are the best, aren’t they, Savvy Readers? Thanks to Family Day on Monday, this week was a short one and we are just about ready to dive into bed with a good book and spend the weekend hibernating for a little while. Read on for all of this week’s bookish news!

1. LeBron James is set to release his first book!

LeBron James, one of the best athletes ever, is set to release a children’s book this August! I Promise, based on his foundation’s I Promise program, will feature James’s upbeat, rhyming text and vibrant illustrations perfectly crafted for a diverse audience by New York Times bestselling artist Nina Mata. 2. #HarperPresents High Tea with Joanna Goodman and Alka Joshi!

If you’re a historical fiction fan in the Ottawa area, this is one event that you do NOT want to miss. HarperCollins Canada recently announced a high tea with authors Joanna Goodman, of The Home For Unwanted Girls fame, and Alka Joshi, author of the upcoming masterpiece The Henna Artist at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier. 3. Wednesday was the first-ever I Read Canadian Day!

Wednesday was the first ever #IReadCanadian Day, created by author Eric Walters in an attempt to get us talking about and celebrating Canadian books for young people, and I think it’s safe to say it was a smashing success!
