How are we already on to the third week of July?! I guess time flies when you’re stuck inside… right? Another week has come and gone, so that means we have to do a whole lot of catching up on what’s happened this week! Let’s dive in.

2. Jess Walter’s Beautiful Ruins is becoming a movie!

In exciting news, it was just announced that Steven Spielberg’s production company, Amblin Partners, is bringing Jess Walter‘s incredible novel, Beautiful Ruins, to th big screen, and director Niki Caro – famous for her work on The Zookeeper’s Wife, the upcoming live-action adaptation of Mulan, and Anne with an E – is set to direct! 3. The trailer for The One and Only Ivan dropped and it’s everything

In yet another bout of exciting adaptation news, Disney dropped the trailer for their upcoming adaptation of Katherine Applegate‘s beloved novel The One and Only IvanWith a star-studded cast that includes Brian Cranston, Helen Mirren, Sam Rockwell, Hamilton‘s Phillipa Soo, Angelina Jolie, and Danny DeVito, The One and Only Ivan seems like the movie we need right now. The film is headed straight to Disney+ on August 14th, and we’ve already marked it in our calendars. Check out the trailer here.
