The Scotiabank Giller Prize’s Longlist and it Includes Some of Our Favourite Books!

Hey there, Savvy Readers! Some exciting news has sent the team into a buzz and we wanted you to be among the first to know that four of our absolute favourite books have been long-listed for the 2020 Scotiabank Giller Prize!

First founded in 1994 to highlight the very best in Canadian fiction, the Scotiabank Giller Prize awards $100,000 annually to the author of the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English. This year’s long-list nominees include four of our favourite reads of the year, selected from a field of 118 books submitted by publishers across Canada, including:

Indians on Vacation by Thomas King 

The Pull of the Stars by Emma Donoghue

The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel

Five Little Indians by Michelle Good

Chosen by an esteemed panel of five judges, this year the Scotiabank Giller Prize celebrates its 27th anniversary! The shortlist is set to be announced on Monday, October 5th, and the winner on November 9th. Read more about this year’s prize here.
